Colin made his Giants debut as a registered Ayr Scottish Eagles player, Giants had two injured goalies and so Ryder was recruited on-loan during the Aherne Trophy games of 2002. The following season Dave Whistle signed him to the Belfast side and Colin made a name for himself when he shut out two top European teams in two consecutive nights to help earn the Giants a place in the Continental Cup Finals in Switzerland.
This season Colin has started every game and is getting better and better with every minute on the ice.
