Welch follows new Giants coach Christiansen across the Irish Sea from Edinburgh for the 2010/11 season.
Welch will be relied upon to show his versatility and fit in on any of the 3 forward lines chipping in points or shutting down the opposition.
Having previously represented both Nottingham and Coventry as well as Edinburgh, Welch will have to work extra hard to win over the Giants fans.
