First Player Signings Announced
21-May-2004The Belfast Giants have announced their first player signings for the 2004-2005 season. Defenceman Todd Kelman will be back for a fifth season with the Giants and he will be joined by Netminder Martin Klempa.
The announcement ends several weeks of speculation about whether or not any of last year's squad would return following the departure of Rob Stewart as team coach. The Giants' new coach Tony Hand has confirmed that he is involved in talks with other members of the 2003-2004 team as well as some new prospects.
Martin Klempa, a 31 year old Slovak netminder, has played the last two seasons in Slovakia and had a stint in Russia. [Martin's Stats from HockeyDB.com]. It is not clear yet whether the signing of new netminder signals the end of Colin Ryder's time with the Giants.
