Start of a New 'Golden' Era...
10-Sep-2003The Giants enter their fourth season on Belfast ice, just as the Kingdom gets a little 'pre-season clean-out' for its fourth year as the No.1 fans' website dedicated the reigning UK Champions.
The off-season was an eventful one, but thats all in the past now as a new-look side prepares to face the rest of the new-look league for this, the inaugural season of the Elite Ice Hockey League.
New coach Rob Stewart has demonstrated his committment to the Giants in his playing career for the side by never missing a game and scoring some remarkable goals, but the pads are off and the suit and tie on, as he embarks on the new challenge of filling Dave Whistle's shoes.
Some players have left while some of the hardier perennials have come back to the fold, but history will be made this season with three local guys getting their shot at the big time and they're eager to showcase their talent in front of the home fans as local ice hockey takes a massive step forward.
It'll be different, but its hockey and its been way too long ...
