The Clock Is Ticking
31-Jul-2009It is a little under 4 weeks before the Coors Belfast Giants take to the ice at the Dundonald International Ice Bowl to face the Newcastle Vipers in a pre-season match up that will kick off both teams 09/10 term.
The last few weeks have seen an enforced change in defense by Steve Thornton. Dave Philips departed the club having successfully bagged a position with the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL.
Dave was replaced in the Giants side by his brother Kevin, formerly of the Slough Jets, who has previous EIHL experience with the hull Singrays and more recently with the Basingstoke Bison
With only two more import slots to fill, expected by the fans to be Evan Cheverie and long time team captain George Awada, Thornton will go into the 09/10 season with a different look to the side he formed 12 months ago.
