The Coors Belfast Giants have made their first acquisition of the 2009 off-season. And in a similar vain to last seasons first signing of youn british prospect Dave Phillips, Steve Thornton has again looked to young British talent with the signature of Craig Peacock from the Peterborough Phantoms.
Twenty year old Peacock comes off a season where he achieved the highest points tally of any British player in the English Premier League, a very impressive haul of 106 points, including 57 goals.
On the Official Website, Player-Coach Steve Thornton is quoted as saying ”I believe that he is in line to have a great rookie year with the Giants”. And he would follow in Phillips foot steps in that regard, the young defenseman from the East Riding of Yorkshire capping a successful first season with the Giants with a rewarding trip to Poland with Team GB.
Across the league, Hull and Coventry have started at the back, both picking up Scandinavian netminders. Tommy Sandahl and Peter Hirsch joining the Rays and the Blaze respectively.
