Following a night of success, the new Challenge Cup Champion, Coors Belfast Giants travelled to Nottingham for an EIHL game that would seal their position in the final league standings
Despite getting off to a flying start with goals from Evan Cheverie and two from captain George Awada, as well as leading 3-1 at the end of the first period, the Giants defense fell away and goals from Kevin Bergin, Brendan Cook and Danny Meyers sealed the fate of the tired travelling side
The result cements the Giants final position in the league campaign. A fourth place finish in a season that started so brightly in the league, but has been dogged by injury and suspension.
Two league games remain, against the Coventry Blaze on Saturday and a game against the Manchester Phoenix on Sunday that doubles as the first leg of the Knockout Cup final.
The Giants opponents in the playoffs is far from confirmed. Both Cardiff and Manchester being a possibility.
