That would be one way of describing the way the results went for the Coors Belfast Giants the weekend past. In spite of improved performances, the Giants yet again came up short against both the Coventry Blaze and the Nottingham Panthers.
The weekends results have left the Giants at the foot of the league table, and left the fans wondering where all the pre-season promise has gone. Although the Giants have conceded an astonishing 28 goals in 6 games, the defence is not the only problem, as the forward lines have also been struggling, with only Scott Cameron managing to find the net with any great frequency.
After the games, Coors Belfast Giants player/coach Ed Courtenay trotted out the "shape-up-or-ship-out" mantra that Giants fans have heard before, and that players are sure to have heard countless times before. However, as Curtis Huppe found out last year, the Coach will follow through with his threat of changes. With results as they are, in spite of some improvements, a change or two could be expected sooner rather than later.
The Giants will host the Nottingham Panthers on Friday night for the first time this season, and thankfully will have a rest day on the Saturday before travelling to a rejuvenated Edinburgh Capitals side. It will be interesting to see if there are any new faces in the line-up for these games, or will the Coachs words be no more than idle threats?
