Ruff and Jamieson sign on again
25-Jun-2007The Coors Belfast Giants have confirmed the re-signing of GB International Leigh Jamison and the franchise's all-time points record holder and Legend Jason Ruff.
Neither signing will need much in the way of introduction to the Giant's fanbase.
Jamieson, who turns 22 in the summer, will enter his fifth season as a Giant since signing from Milton Keynes Lightning. Leigh has become a dependable member of the team and with his considerable stature and workmanlike attitude, he has found himself playing both defence and as an auxiliary forward.
Veteran Ruff will also make this his fifth season - at the end of last season, his future seemed uncertain with many fancying Ruff to hang up his skates. There is little doubt as to Jason's value to the Locker Room - team-mates have made it clear in the past that having Ruff on board provides a huge psychological edge. Fans will no doubt hope to have "Ruffles" back on top form - as when fit and firing, there are surely few better to have graced the EIHL Stage.
The Coors Giants have now announced the signatures of 11 players for 07/08...and it's not even July yet! The current status is that "two import defencemen, an import centreman and one or two more young Brits" will be required to complete the roster.
With the rest of the EIHL teams having their rosters at an advanced stage also, the GMs and Coaches are all setting out their stalls early - we can only hope this competitive streak continues in earnest when the real action starts on the ice come September.
