28-Feb-2007 | Discuss this ArticleThe Coors Belfast Giants today announced that netminder Mike Minard will be out for the remainder of the season.
Minard, who led the Giants to a first ever Elite League Championship last season, was hurt during the pre-game warm up on Sunday night prior to the game at Edinburgh Capitals.
Giants coach Ed Courtenay however has moved quickly to find a replacement, signing former Ayr Scottish Eagles team mate Philippe DeRouville from Italian side Neumarkt Egna Wild Goose where he claimed a 0.900% save percentage and 3.48 Goals Against Average for the Italian Serie A2 side.
DeRouville also played 3 games for the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins with a 3.18 GAA and a .903 save per centage after being drafted in the fifth round in 1992.
