Saturday night sees the Coors Belfast Giants take on the Vipers at the Odyssey Arena
After the cancellation of Thursday night's fixture at home to Cardiff due to the Devils being snowed in, the Giants will be better rested than anticipated and will no doubt be keen to take to the ice.
The Giants currently hold second place in the bmibaby Elite League and desperately need a victory to keep in touch with the leading Coventry Blaze.
Ed Courtenay's team have beaten the Vipers once at home and twice away so far this season and the Vipers current league position shows that they have had an indifferent season compared to their stellar performance last year.
Newcastle go into the game with their backup netminder, Mark Lee, having to start between the pipes, their usual starter, Peter Aubry, is out with a knee injury picked up in a game against Edinburgh. Lee has now started the last two games for the Vipers, picking up 2 wins and one shutout against the Stingrays.
However the Vipers will have no doubt taken heart from the Giants inconsistent form since December - on any given night the team can be sublime or infuriating to watch.
The game is sure to be a tense affair with the rivalries between players from last seasons firey encounters still burning
With Coventry not playing until Sunday nights game against Belfast, a win would put the two teams level in the league on 55 points setting up a mouthwatering league run-in.
Here's hoping the weather holds up in Mobilx!
