The Kingdom Of The Giants has learnt today that the last remaining original Giant not-resigned, Jason Bowen, has announced his retirement from the game.
Jason, the original hard-hitting #28, has been in Belfast for 5 of the past 6 seasons where he amassed a total of 627 penalty minutes (2nd Giants all-time), 30 goals and 50 assists in 261 games (4th in Giants all-time appearances). Speaking from his home back in Victoria, Canada, Jason said that he wished to thank the fans in Belfast for their support over the years, and that he was looking forward to starting his new life and new career in his adopted home of Belfast.
Belfast Giants fans will undoubtedly miss Big Bowesys presence on the ice, not to mention the hits, checks and basically anything else he was willing to throw at opposition forwards with a big daft grin on his face. We wish him well for the future...
