In an announcement sure to put as many column inches as points up at the O come September, the Coors Belfast Giants today announced the re-signing of top defenseman, Todd "Killer" Kelman. Todd now becomes the first seven-year Giant, having been with the Club since its first season.
Fans hardly need reminding of his attributes on or off the ice, but we will remind you anyway. He currently stands 6th in the order of total franchise points returning 170 points from the blue line off 345 games which coincidentally (and unsurprisingly) is the most games played by anyone in teal and white. He is also widely recognised as one of the best defensemen playing EIHL hockey - Ed Courtenay last year boasted that Todd was indeed the best in the league.
Off the ice, he provides a weekly slice of his thoughts on the EIHL game and more besides in his often tongue-in-cheek Sunday Life section "Killers Corner". He is also the current reigning "Bunny God", worshipped by female fans young and old - a fan award given by the Club's Official Supporters Club.
Killer's return is more than just bringing back a "piece of furniture", there can be little doubt that he more than earns his place on the roster on - and off - the ice.
