Ed Courtenay sent an early warning to the EIHL for next season early by confirming that the Coors Giants first signing of the 2006 season is Canadian left winger Mark Dutiaume.
The ex-Steeler became the first player to sign up for the new season after coach Ed Courtenay was appointed last week.
After an amazing season in 03-04 with the Steelers, racking up 88 points off 53 games, Dutes completed an ill-fated move to Bolzano in Italy after which he returned to the Steelers once more. He made 22 points in the remainder of that year and last year was once more a key figure for the Steelers returning 60 points off 50 games despite their management troubles and a somewhat mixed year.
With Courtenay seeming more determined to become a bench coach, Dutiaume's signing appears to fill an important gap on the ice.
So, thats the #14 jersey filled quicker than expected then...
