Coors Belfast Giants General Manager, John Elliott today announced that Ed Courtenay will be returning as Coach for the 2006/2007 season.
Having delivered the League Championship in his rookie season, fans were as keen as the Club Management to have him return for next season.
Having racked up 70 points as a player-coach last year, confirmation of Ed's intention to play next year is still awaited. However, the recently announced changes to player eligibility rules may mean that Ed has the opportunity to step off the ice and become a full time bench coach - something he intended to do last season until being pressed into action.
Having done so well with only a short pre-season last year, Ed now has a considerably greater time to build his team for 2006-2007.
Now the search for players begins...
