Theo Fleury has been named the 6th Kingdom of the Giants Most Valuable Player.
The award, previously won by the likes of Shane Johnson, David Matsos and last seaon Martin Klempa, was presented to the EIHL's top points scorer after the Giants playoff match against the Coventry Blaze
Fleury, who has iced 1084 times in "The Show" and amassed 1088 points, arrived at the Giants in October and made an immediate impact. In his debut game he scored three goals, set up four and took on Edinburgh hard man Fredrik Oduya in one of the most sensational games witnessed in the Odyssey.
Fluery, a Stanley Cup Winner, Canada Cup Winner, Olympic Gold Medal Winner and a 7 time NHL All-Star, decimated the league with skill and style not seen in UK Hockey for many years.
Clicking on a line with Giants Coach Ed Courtenay and Colin Shields, the three led the league in scoring and led the Belfast Giants to their first Elite League title.
A few hiccups along the way have seen Fleury picking up a number of diciplinary charges, and seen him pick up 296 penalty minutes during the league season, but for that he still was able to amass a league leading 84 points, 13 more than the next highest scorer Coventry's Evan Cheverie
And its for his scoring prowess and pure entertainment value over the season that Theo Fleury picks up the greatest award in his hockey carrer. The KotG Most Valuable Player
