Excitement is building amongst Coors Belfast Giants fans over the imminent arrival of ex-NHL superstar Theo Fleury.
The feisty five foot six forward will arrive in Belfast in time for the visit of ex-Giants coach Tony Hand’s Edinburgh Capitals. The Caps have had a disappointing start to the season so far, only registering one win, against the Sheffield Steelers, from seven games. The Scottish outfit have shipped a depressing 41 goals in those games, with rumours of netminder, Martin Kucera, being replaced.
A bumper crowd is expected for the match with Belfast fans arranging a huge welcome for Fleury on Saturday night, including getting the Odyssey to lift restrictions bringing flags into the Arena. For this Saturday only you will be able to bring the Canadian national flag to the game, so expect to see many Maple Leaves dotted around the O.
Giants’ fans are hoping a line of Ruff, Awada and Fleury will emulate the success of the Ruff, Berens and Riehl line from season 01/02, with the RAF sending the Giants soaring at the top of the table.
