John Elliot today announced that the coach of the Belfast Giants for the 2005/06 season is Ed Courtenay.
The 37 year old Canadian played in the ISL for Sheffield Steelers and Ayr Scottish Eagles and made 44 appearances in the NHL for the San Jose Sharks.
He has spent the last two seasons, as a player/assistant coach, in the ECHL with the South Carolina stingrays.
Ed is the Giants third coach in three years and their second rookie coach. After 2 seasons without silverware the Giants fans are hungry for some success and itâ??s likely that Ed will be under a lot of pressure from game one. Giants fans will be hoping that he does better than their last rookie coach, Rob Stewart, who led the Giants to their worst ever run in the league.
